Relocating to The Mississippi Gulf Coast Guide
When it comes to places that offer a high quality of life and an affordable cost of living, the Mississippi Gulf Coast is at the top of the list. It’s a great place to settle down, which is why Elliott Homes is thrilled to be building our homes in this gorgeous region! Here are some things to know if you’ll be joining us here:
Housing options. There are many options along the Gulf Coast. Each town is unique, and offers plenty of styles, sizes and price points. (You’ll find Elliott homes all along the coast!)
Geography. One of the biggest perks of living here is the location. White beaches, dense forests, salty marshes. The Gulf Islands National Shoreline is stunning, and there are tons of things to do – like boating, swimming, hiking, birdwatching.
Weather. The summers are long, and the humidity is high, but the winters are warm.
Southern hospitality. Mississippians are likely the friendliest, most polite people you’ll ever meet. Prepare to feel instantly at home.
Fish & shrimp. There’s a lot of water, so there’s a lot of fishing. Shrimp, oysters, bass, bluefish, catfish… you name it. In the Gulf or on the river, fishing is a way of life here.
Food. Seafood, BBQ, po boys, gumbo, jambalaya, pralines. Need we say more?
Fun stuff. We have dozens of casinos and golf courses, not to mention world class shopping and resorts.
Religion. The majority of Mississippians consider themselves religious, so religion is a big part of the culture here. (Mississippi is home to one of the largest Baptist populations in the world, btw!)
